Been a while since we updated this, whoops. Let’s get down to it.

We did a good chunk of touring and traveling this Spring / Summer. Thanks to anyone who came out to the shows or helped in anyway. We got to make it up to Canada, out to the West Coast, and over to Europe for our 2nd go around there, and we had a really great time.
Our all surf instrumental EP, MONSTER SURF, has since been released (and sold out) on Wallride Records, and we are currently hard at work on our 3rd full length album, set for release sometime in 2015 on Fat Wreck Chords. We are currently laying fairly low on the show front, because frankly we are sucky multi-taskers and wanted to really spend some quality time writing and demoing for the new album. We are, however, playing 3 shows at the Gainesville Fest this year, as long as we don’t have more babies or get struck with another hurricane (you know, like the last 2 years we’ve had to cancel)!
We also just restocked many shirt sizes in our webstore and will be adding a new design in the next few days.
That’s about it for now. We’ll see you soon.

OK, first off, really excited to have TANKCRIMES releasing our first two albums, “THE OTHER SIDE OF DARKNESS”, and “BORN TO DIE IN SUBURBIA” on cassette tape. They will be out April 15th.
After that will be the “MONSTER SURF” EP… Our records normally have 1 or 2 surf instrumental tunes on them… We’ve had the idea of doing a 4 song 7″ of all surf instrumentals for years now, and finally found some time this Winter to bust it out. Our long time pals WALLRIDE RECORDS will release a limited, one time pressing of 700 copies or “MONSTER SURF” on May 13th, just in time for a bunch of tour dates which you can find below…
Lastly, we are once again busy writing. We have completed our first couple new full band tunes for the first time in over a year (since the end of writing “BORN TO DIE IN SUBURBIA”)! We are slow writers, but we THINK we have an idea as to what we are writing towards and we are really excited. More info on that when we know more…
For now, come see us on tour this year! It’s been a while since we’ve been to a lot of these places so we are very eager to hit the road. Thanks for reading, we love you all…

We’ll also be announcing some news regarding shows/tours in Canada, Europe, and West Coast very soon.

Additionally, we’ll be hitting the studio in early February to record our instrumental 7″ – hoping to have that out in the spring.

Skateboard decks are in.  We have them for sale in our webstore.  We made only 50 of these skate decks and when they are gone, they’re gone.  We’ve also restocked all shirt sizes on three of our shirt designs.

Speaking of our webstore, some folks have complained about a lack of a digital download card with the Maimed for the Masses 7″.  While you can easily purchase it on our homegrown webstore, if you purchase the physical 7″ on our bandcamp page, you get a free digital download right when you complete the purchase.

Writing is just about complete on our new instrumental EP.  Looks like it will be a five song 7″.  Hoping to announce the label for that sometime next month.

We are presently planning out our 2014.  We will have some big announcements coming soon about tours.

Thanks to everyone who supported us in 2013 – expect more racket from us next year!

A couple of quick announcements while Night Birds are in hiatus mode:

1.  We will have Night Birds skateboard decks for sale soon over in our webstore.  We’ll have another update when that goes up for sale.  We will also be restocking a lot of shirt designs and sizes that we’ve run out of in the last couple of months.

2.  We are working on a brand new all instrumental 7″.  It is going to be on a label we’ve wanted to work with for a long time.  More on that as time goes on.  Expect that to drop sometime in 2014.

3.  Since Brian is out of commission and the rest of us are working on these instrumental songs, we’re actually going to be playing a couple all-instrumental shows under the band alias “Killer Waves” to test out the new material.  The shows will be:

FRI 12/6 -Asbury Park, NJ @Asbury Lanes, Jay Insult’s birthday party show
SAT 12/21 – Asbury Park, NJ @Asbury Lanes, w/World Inferno Friendship Society

4. We will be making our triumphant return from our Bri-hiatus (back to Night Birds with vocals) for the Don Giovanni Records showcase.  The show will be:

THUR 2/6/14 – Brooklyn, NY @ 285 Kent, w/Tenement, Vacation, Groucho Marxists, and Nuclear Santa Claust

Thanks to everyone who came out and caught us on ZERO BOYS tour! We had a total blast and might go as far as saying it was our best tour to date.

We are playing some shows this month than taking the Winter off while Brian adjusts to new fatherhood and we wait for the shitty cold to blow over. We just started writing again, not totally sure for what yet, but we have a few ideas. Some shows and tours are already in the works for next year, and we are beyond excited to get back to the West Coast, Europe, and other places we haven’t been in way too long.

Thanks as always for your continued support, and an extra big thanks to Michael Douglas, Heidi & Michael Eldridge for winning the Night Birds charity test presses and helping us raise $1,110.00 towards a clinical trial to try and find less painful/dangerous ways to treat children with cancer!

OUR NEW RECORD IS OUT NOW! (Again…) After a bunch of plant delays, Grave Mistake FINALLY has copies of BORN TO DIE IN SUBURBIA back in their hands and ready to roll and you should start to see copies popping up in all your favorite to buy Rock N’ Roll records locations ASAP… If you have a distro or a store and are looking for copies, please drop him a line at gravemistakerecords@gmail.com

…For those who’ve been kind enough to offer us shows lately… My (Brian) wife and I are expecting a brand new baby girl mid November, which we’re really excited about. Night Birds will be laying low roughly 1 month beforehand (I don’t want to be far away with a very pregnant wife at home, so that means no FEST again this year, sorry) and for a bit after the baby comes (who wants to tour in the Winter anyway? Fuck the cold).

Throughout next year Night Birds plan is to do a bunch of small trips, mostly 2-6 show runs (no long tours with a youngin at home), and fests ALL over the place. We hope to hit some places we’ve been unintentionally neglecting and eager to get to / get back to… Florida, Texas, California, Vancouver, Portland, Chicago, Europe, etc. We’ve been saving up all our pennies with this in mind so we can blow it all flying around playing cool shows and not having to be gone for lengthy periods of time. We always appreciate the offers, and we always appreciate people wanting to see us anywhere. With that said, we still have some awesome stuff in store for the next couple of months and hope to see you there. Dates posted below. Thanks for the support, we’ll see you soon. XO -BRIAN
